HEC Students Receive FREE Access To A World Class Macro Investing Education
The Macro Institute and HEC Montréal have partnered to provide HEC students with free access to Level 1 of the Macro Specialist Designation (M²SD) program.
The Macro Specialist Designation (M²SD)
The Macro Specialist Designation is the only Macro Investing professional designation program.
Over two levels, candidates learn how macro trends impact financial markets and how to successfully implement macro strategy and asset selection into their investment process.
Level 1 covers the essentials of Macro Investing. Candidates examine the principles of macroeconomics, various forms of policy, interest rates, and how all of these forces come together to influence the business cycle and financial markets.

Our Founder
François Trahan, currently the Chief Investment Strategist at BMO Capital Markets*, established The Macro Institute after a 25+ year career working at some of the most respected institutions on Wall Street.
François’s career was shaped by collaborations with leading minds in macroeconomics, including the great Ed Hyman. During the pre-subprime crisis housing warnings, his reputation soared as he offered prescient advice, including a call to stay invested.
His stellar track record throughout his career earned him a spot on the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team Hall of Fame.
François started The Macro Institute, with the goal of teaching investors the same macro knowledge and frameworks that built his career.
